VIC: Linton bushfire victims named
MELBOURNE, Dec 4 AAP - Families, friends and firefighter colleagues today named the five
firefighters who died on Wednesday night in the bushfire at Linton near Ballarat, west of
Melbourne.
The victims, all from Geelong, south-west of Melbourne, were: Matthew Armstrong, 17, Jason
Thomas, 23, Chris Evans in his early 20s, Stuart Davidson, 28, who was the most senior officer
on the truck, and Garry Vredeveldt, 48.
A police spokeswoman said legal requirements relating to official identification of the
victims prevented police from releasing the names at this stage.
