Fed: Holiday road toll climbs to 25
SYDNEY, Dec 26 AAP - The national Christmas road toll has risen to 25, with the death
of motorcyclist in NSW.
The 45-year-old man fell from his bike on the New England Highway at Scone, in the
Hunter Valley, about 12.15pm (AEDT) yesterday.
His death brings the NSW holiday road toll to 10.
There have been no new fatalities reported today.
Also yesterday, a 50-year-old woman died following a car accident in Queensland which
also claimed the life of her grand-daughter.
The pair died in the crash on the Cunningham Highway at Maryvale, south-west of Brisbane,
just after 5am (AEST) yesterday.
The deaths took the holiday period road toll in Queensland to five.
Victoria has recorded five road deaths and Northern Territory roads have claimed three lives.
Western Australia and South Australia have one road death each over the period while
the ACT and Tasmania remain fatality free.
