NSW: Man jailed over cop killing has sentence cut by nine years

A man jailed over the fatal stabbing of police officer PETER FORSYTH has had his sentence
reduced by one third -- three years to the day the 28-year-old constable died.

MURRAY HEARNE has won an appeal against his 27-year sentence for the murder of Constable
FORSYTH and the malicious wounding of Constable JASON SEMPLE outside a hotel in Ultimo,
inner Sydney.

The full bench of the court of criminal appeal imposed a new sentence of 18 years,
