FED: Plenty of room to improve Aust s health status

CANBERRA, Feb 24 AAP -High suicide and cancer rates, low life expectancy for the
indigenous population and high unemployment have blighted Australia's performance in an
international health performance report released today.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report compares Australia's performance on
70 health indicators with 19 other developed countries, including several in Asia.
