Fed: Beazley says he's not expecting US ambassador job

Former Labor leader KIM BEAZLEY says he's happy doing his own thing.

But he's stopped short of saying he'd never want to be Australia's ambassador to Washington.

It's long been rumoured that Mr BEAZLEY will be handed the plum diplomatic posting
as a reward for long and meritorious service.

Mr BEAZLEY has told Sky News he's building up a little portfolio of speaking engagements
and consultancies.

He has his academic interests and is determined to do a few publications.
